About S&S Marine Repair

S&S Marine Repair is a family-owned mobile marine service based in North Port, Florida. We repair, service, diagnose, and rig outboard-powered boats across Charlotte and Sarasota County, coming to you at your dock, marina slip, boat lift, or driveway rather than making you tow the boat to a shop. The business is legally registered in the state of Florida as Stradic's Marine Repair LLC, doing business as S&S Marine Repair. Our operating base is at 7991 Bristol Ave, North Port, FL 34291.

Who Actually Runs the Business

Owner and lead marine technician Spencer Iannuzzi handles every job personally. When you call our number, you are talking to the mechanic. When you schedule a visit, the person who quoted the job is the same person who shows up in the driveway or at the dock. That is a deliberate design choice, not a limitation.

Most boat repair shops in the region run on a workflow where a service writer takes the incoming call, a shop foreman assigns the job, and the actual work rotates through whoever happens to be free that day. That system spreads accountability across three or four people, which is why owners routinely end up chasing status updates and repeating the same story to the third person about a repair that is now four weeks in. Our operation is built the opposite way. One technician, one relationship, one point of contact for the full life of the job. It keeps the work quality consistent and the communication direct.

About Us

What Family-Owned Actually Means in Practice

The phrase "family-owned" gets used a lot in this industry without much substance behind it. For us, it means the person answering the phone lives in the same neighborhood as the customers, launches from the same public ramps, uses the same fuel docks, and depends on the same weather forecast to plan the workweek. It also means we do not answer to a corporate office, a private equity group, or a franchise agreement that dictates hourly rates and parts markups. Every service call is a direct transaction between you and a technician who wants to earn your next call and your neighbor's referral.

A small operation also has one meaningful advantage over a bigger shop. We remember your boat. When you call back six months later about a different issue, we already know the engine hours we recorded last visit, the wiring quirks we noted, and the part we said would probably need attention in a year.

Why We Built the Operation Around Going to the Boat

Boat repair across this coast has a logistics problem that most shops have chosen to ignore. Most boats in Charlotte and Sarasota County live in the water or on a lift year-round. They are on private canal docks behind residential homes. They are on lifts in backyards. They are in marina slips. They are on rack storage at facilities that make hauling for outside service a two-day ordeal.

Getting a boat to a traditional shop means finding a trailer, sometimes borrowing or renting one, hauling a fully rigged and often loaded boat through Gulf-Coast traffic, waiting in a shop queue that can run three to eight weeks in peak season, and repeating the entire process to pick the boat up. Owners have told us for years that they put off routine service because the trip to and from the shop is more painful than the maintenance itself. That is exactly how a routine impeller replacement turns into a full water pump and lower unit repair, and how a preventative diagnostic scan gets delayed until the engine finally fails at the worst possible moment. We built the business to eliminate that trip. We arrive at your boat with diagnostic software, service parts, wiring supplies, fluids, and the equipment needed to complete most jobs in a single visit. For jobs that legitimately need a lift or a bench, we can arrange pickup, do the work, and return the boat to your slip. You never touch a trailer.

The Kinds of Boats We Work On

Our regular customer base covers the full spectrum of Charlotte and Sarasota County recreational and light-commercial boats.

  • Center-consoles from local and regional builders like Pathfinder, Sea Hunt, Grady-White, Robalo, and Boston Whaler
  • Bay boats and flats boats from Hewes, Maverick, East Cape, Ranger, and similar builders popular on the local grass flats
  • Pontoons and deck boats used on the inland canals, lakes, and Charlotte Harbor
  • Jon boats and skiffs on smaller motors, often carbureted two-strokes
  • Offshore fishing platforms up to about 30 feet, running twin and triple outboards
  • Older single-engine boats being kept alive by owners who take pride in staying ahead of maintenance

If your boat has an outboard, a trolling motor, or marine electronics, we probably work on one like it every week.

What to Expect When You Book

Booking a service call is straightforward. Call or text (239) 333-6722 with:

  • Your boat make, model, and length
  • Engine brand, horsepower, and model year if you know them
  • A description of the issue or the service you need
  • Where the boat is kept
  • Your preferred day and time window

We respond during business hours, usually the same day. For diagnostics or unfamiliar issues, we may ask a few questions to narrow the scope before we quote. Estimates are always free. Diagnostic work is quoted upfront so you know the fee before we arrive.

On arrival, we do a brief walk-around, confirm the scope of work, and get started. For any issue we discover during the job that changes the scope, we call before continuing. When the work is finished, we test-run everything and walk you through what was done and why.

Our Commitment

Three things we hold to on every job:

  • Do the work right the first time. No shortcuts on marine-grade parts, corrosion protection, or sealing. Every wire crimp gets heat-shrunk. Every through-hull penetration gets sealed properly.
  • Tell you the truth about what your boat needs. If a repair is not economical, we say so. If the shop quote you got is inflated, we tell you. If the boat is going to give you five more good years with a modest fix instead of a rebuild, that is the recommendation.
  • Stand behind the work. If something we serviced fails prematurely, call us. We come back and fix it.
